Old World Christmas Oyster Ornament

Personalize your Christmas tree with a variety of hand-painted ornaments from Old World Christmas. In the business of making holidays brighter for the last 40 years, Old World Christmas has an ornament for every occasion.

From college sports teams to cute animals and niche ornaments for foodies, you’ll be sure to find one or five perfect ornaments for your most stylish tree yet. As a native New Englander, it’s hard to pass up on the mini oyster with included pearl, and I’ll probably have to pick up a Syracuse ornament for my favorite cousin.

Reviewers love the detail and size of these glass ornaments, and also mention that the quality is top-notch.

Pros

  • Something for everyone

  • Great quality and detail

Cons

  • None that we could find

Every Day Is Christmas Shatterproof Balls

Great for rowdy houses with pets, kids, or even just the accident-prone decorator, these shatterproof balls come in a pack of 35, so you’ll have more than enough to decorate your entire tree without having to strategically place for bald spots.

Reviews mention that these Christmas balls look nicer than expected, especially for the price, but that the included ornament hooks are almost useless. We wouldn’t let that deter you from choosing these ornaments, though; you can pick up hooks of your own for cheap to combat this issue.

Another downside is that the glittery balls tend to shed a lot of glitter, but if you’re not worried about vacuuming your tree, then this should be fine. Sturdy when dropped, these shatterproof bulbs are the perfect solution for avoiding holiday messes.

Pros

  • Shatterproof

  • Inexpensive

Cons

  • Glitter sheds a lot

  • Hooks are flimsy

It’s hard to resist these handmade Swedish gnomes from Funoasis. Besides, why would you want to? Each of the 10 charming gnomes are made of environmentally friendly materials, so you won’t have to feel bad about adding them to your cart.

Five inches in length, these are a great addition to any holiday decor and would even look great as an add-on to gifts. And reviewers love the look of them. There’s no downside when it comes to taking home one or more of these little friends.

Pros

  • Made of environmentally-friendly materials

  • Good size

Cons

  • None that we could find

If you’re looking for bright, unconventional bulbs, these are your best bet. With a wide range of colors, in a shiny or velvet finish, these ball ornaments are perfect for when red-and-green decor just won’t cut it. Classic in design, these bulbs put a fun twist on holiday decorating, and you can get colors from bright pink to light blue.

These Christmas bulbs are made of glass, so you’ll want to take care during the decorating process—especially when packing up your holiday decorations. Some reviews do mention that some of the bulbs might arrive broken, but this is a rare issue. In fact, most reviews praise the packaging.

Pros

  • Wide range of colors

  • Very pretty finishes

Cons

  • Might arrive with damages

  • Fragile

Included in this holiday ornament set are a tree topper, snowflake ornaments, Christmas balls, pine cones, finial drops, miniature gift boxes, beaded garland, and pretty poinsettias to top it off.

Pros

  • Lots of ornaments

  • Durable

Cons

The set includes 18 1.57-inch small balls, 12 2.36-inch medium balls, and 6 3.15-inch large balls, allowing you to decorate easily and quickly.

Product image of Kurt Adler Miniature Ornaments
Kurt Adler Miniature Ornaments

Finding ornaments for tabletop trees can be hard, and if your decor is too heavy it can weigh down boughs. That’s why this mini ornament set from Kurt Adler is perfect.

This 12-piece resin ornament set has plenty of color and festive characters, so even if your tree is tiny it will still be a statement. Included are all the usual characters you’d expect, like a silly penguin and cheerful gingerbread man.

This set would be perfect for a mini tree in a child’s room, especially since the ornaments are made of durable resin.

Pros

  • Durable

  • Light enough for small trees

Cons

  • Very small

  • Not very original

Product image of JOSU Battery Operated Flameless Taper Christmas Candles
JOSU Battery Operated Flameless Taper Christmas Candles

An elegant Christmas tree doesn’t have to cost your entire Christmas budget. And with the money you’ll save on these flameless candles, you’ll have some extra cash left over for other holiday treats.

While a candlelit Christmas tree might look beautiful, it’s just about the most dangerous thing we can think of. That’s why it’s surprising that this was the norm until the late 1800s. Luckily, you can still get that classic Christmas look without the need for a bucket of sand or water nearby in case of fire.

Complete with a remote and built-in six- or eight-hour timer, these LED flameless candles have a cool flicker function to make them look more realistic. They’re also safe for both indoor and outdoor use, so they would make great additions to any outdoor decorations.

Some reviewers had trouble fitting the candles into the tree clips, so that might be a bit annoying. But at this price, you'll be sure to find a good use for them.

We love the vintage look of these tree candles, and the fact that they’re extra affordable. But you can certainly get a higher-quality set for more money, like this set from Anthropologie, if you feel like splurging a little.

Pros

  • Nice look

  • safe for indoor and outdoor use

Cons

  • Hard to attach to clips

  • Quality is just ok

How to Make Christmas Ornaments

Holiday crafting can be a ton of fun with kids—and the perfect way to add a personal touch to your tree. There are plenty of DIY ornament tutorials online, but one of my personal favorites takes just a few minutes and will make an adorable melted snowman ornament to hang on your tree.

In order to make them, you’ll take clear bulbs and fill them with fake snow, or sugar if you’re doing it last-minute. Then add paper cut-out in the shape of a hat, eyes, and little carrot nose, and you’ve got a great homemade Christmas ornament for your tree.
