When it comes to stylish activewear, you may be familiar with the usual suspects—lululemon, Athleta, Aerie. But many brands, like Gymshark and Aybl, have gained popularity thanks to social media. Bombshell Sportswear is a brand that’s gained a following in recent years for its trendy styles and ultra soft fabrics, but can it compete with activewear staples? If you’re looking for cute and comfy styles for low-intensity workouts, we think it can.

Activewear that gained popularity on Instagram.

Founded in 2014, Bombshell Sportswear has gained popularity on Instagram for its influencer-esque activewear. The brand makes activewear and loungewear including leggings, sweats, sports bras, bodysuits, and more.

Most of Bombshell’s clothes include trendy accents popular on social media like butt-scrunching fabric or V-shaped waistbands. Most are available in sizes XXS or XS to XL.

All of Bombshell's clothing is designed and made in the U.S. Tops cost about $60 and leggings about $90, on par with high-end activewear brands like lululemon and Athleta. I tested the Relax Long Bra and Uplift Leggings during yoga classes, lifting sessions, and jogs around the neighborhood to see how they perform.

What we like about Bombshell Sportswear

The clothes are cute and comfy

It's cute and trendy.

Bombshell has a variety of cute styles and the clothes are ultra comfortable. The leggings and crop top I tested, made of Bombshell’s “second skin medium weight” fabric, feel soft against the skin and are extremely comfy to exercise and lounge in.

They look and feel similar to a set I have from Beyond Yoga, a brand known for its ultra soft yoga apparel.

The leggings and crop tops offer support

The waistband on the leggings is thick and supportive, which helps them stay firmly in place throughout my workouts. It doesn’t feel overly compressive, like some leggings designed to cinch your waist, and I didn’t have to adjust my leggings once throughout my workouts.

The crop top I tried also offers decent support for those with smaller chests thanks to its built-in bra. As someone with a C-cup, I could wear the top for yoga classes, lifting sessions, and incline walks.

The brand has trendy styles

Bombshell Sportswear carries trendy styles and colors for anyone who wants to experiment with their workout wardrobe. While the set I tested is simple in style, it’s available in multiple colors including an aqua blue, a coral pink, and a neutral beige.

Many styles include cutouts, criss-cross straps, and V-shaped waistbands that feel young and more fashion-forward for an athletic company. If you’re constantly looking for styles you’ve seen on TikTok, Bombshell Sportswear might be a good fit.

What we don’t like about Bombshell Sportswear

It’s expensive

They aren't very breathable.

Tops from Bombshell will run you about $60 and bottoms around $90, depending on the style. I thought the clothes I tried were cute and comfortable to exercise in, but their prices are on par with brands like lululemon and Athleta, which in my opinion make higher quality apparel.

You definitely don’t need to spend this much on activewear—similar items are available from brands like Aerie and even from Amazon for a fraction of the price.

The medium weight fabric isn’t breathable

Bombshell’s second skin medium weight fabric feels buttery soft to the touch, but I didn’t like wearing it during high-intensity cardio workouts. The leggings and top did little to keep me cool and I was left with visible sweat marks after a 45-minute workout, which dried quite slowly when I left the gym.

What other people are saying

Bombshell appears to mainly have 5-star ratings on its site, where reviewers praise the brand’s trendy styles and comfortable fabrics.

“I’m very happy with this outfit,” one reviewer writes. “The cropped bra is supportive in just the right places with the softest fabric. I usually can’t find a top with both of those together!”

Some reviewers who have purchased Bombshell Sportswear on Amazon have the same hang-ups that I experienced—namely that the fabric isn’t breathable. Some also felt the sizing runs small.

Should you buy Bombshell Sportswear?

Maybe, if you really like the styles

If you really like the styles, give it a shot.

If you can’t get enough of viral activewear trends, you may want to consider Bombshell Sportswear. The brand makes a variety of styles that are comfortable to exercise and lounge in.

However, the brand’s activewear may not be suitable for high-intensity cardio workouts, and you can find plenty of less expensive alternatives. Because of the price, I personally don’t see myself running back to grab Bombshell’s newest releases. But if you want to stock up on the styles you see on social media, Bombshell might be a good fit.
