About the Ecovacs Deebot T10 Omni

The T10 Omni is a robot vacuum-mop hybrid.

  • Weight: 9.3 pounds
  • Dimensions: 14.25” x 4” (W x H)
  • Suction Power: 5,000 pa
  • User manual

The Ecovacs Deebot T10 Omni is a self-cleaning robot vacuum-mop hybrid. This means after it’s done with its floor cleaning duties, the T10 can empty into the attached dustbin and wash the mop pads. The T10 comes with a host of smart features, including advanced object avoidance systems, a built-in voice assistant, and a quick-mapping function.

What we like

It's good at dirt and debris pickup

On our obstacle course, the T10 navigated our simulated furniture legs perfectly.

Whenever we test a robot floor cleaner, we make it a point to never lose sight of the cleaning performance. The T10 Omni, with all its smart features, keeps cleaning at the forefront.

During our vacuum tests, it picked up an average of 10.5 grams of dirt per run. To put that in perspective, anything above 10 grams per run is enough to maintain your floors between manual cleanings. Our top robot vacuum-mop hybrid, the iRobot j7+ Combo picked up around 10 grams.

Beyond raw suction power, the T10 also demonstrates finesse. We test robot vacuums on an obstacle course that has furniture legs, shelves, risers, and carpets. The T10 excelled at getting under shelves and over risers. It also avoided bumping into furniture legs.

The smart features are useful

The Ecovacs Deebot T10 Omni offers good smart features that fully take advantage of a connection between your robot and smartphone. Most robot vacuums let you start, stop, and schedule—which is fine, but more people are working at home these days so you’re only saving yourself a short walk. On the T10, you’ll probably interact with the smart mapping ability the most.

Using a method called Direct Time of Flight, the T10 Omni quickly makes a three-dimensional map of your floor plan. These maps allow you to adjust the way your T10 Omni cleans. For example, telling it to clean a certain area like around the dining room table after dinner.

The T10 Omni also has a forward-facing camera that it uses to avoid obstacles and objects. That camera can also stream images to your phone. Combine that with the fact that you can remotely control the T10, and you get a mobile security camera. You can even hear and speak through the app. Imagine being at the office and telling your dog to get off the couch.

And if you don’t want to yell at your pets, you can yell at the T10 Omni—and it’ll actually listen. You can use the built-in voice recognition, Yiko, for that. When you pair it with the smart map, you can give Yiko basic commands like cleaning under the sofa and it will automatically dock after it’s done. You can also give similar commands through your Alexa or Google smart speakers.

If you’re worried about data privacy, that is a valid concern. Ecovacs follows European standards for safeguarding private information. So your T10 Omni may be collecting metadata on you, but not any more than your phone, smart television, or laptop.

This robot vacuum can clean itself

The dirty and clean water tanks help keep the mop pads free of odor and grime.

The T10 Omni can empty into its own dustbin and wash its own mop pads. When the robot returns to its dock after a cleaning cycle, a secondary vacuum suctions everything in the dustbin and places it into a self-sealing bag. This bag can hold up to 60 days’ worth of debris, and replacing it means you don’t have to touch, smell, or see anything unpleasant.

If you hate nasty plumes when you empty the dustbin, you’d probably be equally unenthused to wash mop pads. Ecovacs has a solution for that. The Omni Station uses a clean water tank to rinse used mop pads. That water gets suctioned and placed into a dirty water tank. After that, hot air drying keeps the pads from developing bacteria and odor.

What we don’t like

The mopping feature has stiff competition

We tested the T10 Omni’s mops against chocolate syrup and baby powder on hardwood and linoleum. The T10 aced the actual cleaning part. Its mop pads can rotate up to 180 times per minute, more than enough to scrub stubborn stains.

For larger rooms, the T10 Omni needs to constantly go back to its dock to rewet its pads. That makes the process more hygienic, but slower. However, Ecovacs already solved this issue by placing an onboard reservoir in models like the X1 Omni.

Another thing that we noticed is that if the dock is in a carpeted area, the T10 can sometimes drag its mop pads over the fibers. That’s not a big deal unless you have thick carpets and use the heaviest water settings.

This is an issue that many robot vacuum-mop hybrids face. And if you’re concerned, we suggest that you check out the iRobot Roomba j7+ Combo, which has a retractable mop.

The object recognition is hit or miss

Either the T10 wants to clean this sock or its object recognition did not work.

While our testing shows that the T10 Omni is good at avoiding major obstacles like furniture legs, the test results are more of a mixed bag for object avoidance. During our object avoidance tests, the T10 Omni avoided the power cords we placed on an open platform but often got caught on the sock and occasionally touched the fake animal droppings.

In terms of object avoidance, the T10 ranks in the lower half of the top tier. Models like the iRobot j7+ and Samsung Jetbot A.I.+ navigated our object maze with a little more grace. However, the vast majority of robot vacuums just run everything over.

Warranty

The Ecovacs Deebot T10 Omni comes with an industry-standard one-year limited warranty. It covers any defects in materials and workmanship.

Should you buy the Ecovacs Deebot T10 Omni?

Yes, if you’re interested in an all-in-one robot vacuum and mop

When it comes to robot vacuums that claim to do it all, the Ecovacs Deebot T10 Omni comes close to fulfilling that promise. It vacuums well. It mops well. It empties itself. It even washes and dries its own mop pads.

The T10 Omni has a one-up on the iRobot j7+ Combo, which cleans well, but can’t clean its own mop pads, and the Narwal Freo, which can clean its mop pads, but not much else.

Even though the T10 Omni didn’t ace our object avoidance test, it saves you so much time from having to empty and wash your robot that you can spend a few extra minutes picking up your socks.
