Today, Sony filled in another gap in its full-frame lens lineup, introducing the 50mm Macro f/2.0 for FE. This mirrorless lens has been designed to be both sharp and compact. If macro reproduction is important to you, you should know that this lens has a 1:1 magnification, which is ideal for many types of macro photography.

With a minimum focusing distance of only 6.3 inches (16 cm), this lens should be good for close-up shots. If you're worried about the camera hunting for an AF lock, you can limit the range using a toggle switch on the side of the lens. There's also a focus mode switch and a focus-hold button to go along with the limiter selection options.

This compact macro lens joins the rest of Sony's first-party FE lens lineup.

On the inside, this lens sports a classic 50mm design with eight elements in seven groups. Seven Rounded aperture blades will assist in making the bokeh bubbly and pleasing to behold. All in all, for an MSRP of $500, this sounds like another promising lens in Sony's burgeoning full-frame system. Expect it to ship in September.
